Is your boiler not working as well as it used to? Or have you noticed something unusual happening? Getting your boiler checked out is important if you want it to keep working safely and efficiently. Not all boiler repairs have to break the bank and getting the problem diagnosed early on can save you a lot of money long-term!
1. Strange smells
Any smell from your boiler is a warning sign but you should be particularly worried if it smells like eggs, as this is linked with carbon monoxide. If your boiler is making a strange smell, call out a gas engineer as soon as you can.
2. Unreliable power
If your boiler switches itself off without warning, or if it doesn't switch on when it should, it is a key sign of a fault. It could be caused by a fuse problem but, if not, you will need to call out a gas engineer to look at your boiler properly.
3. Heating delays
A functional boiler will begin heating up your water as soon as you turn it on. If there is a delay, it can be a sign of an internal problem. While you may have got used to the slow heating, it can be resolved by our gas engineers.
4. Water leaks
If your boiler is dripping or leaking, this is a clear sign of a problem. Not only can this cause water damage and mould to your home, but it also means there is a problem with your boiler. We recommend you try to locate the leak yourself so you can catch the water before a gas engineer is called out to fix it.
5. Strange noises
Any normal boiler will make some form of background noise as it runs. However, if the noise becomes more than this, it is a sign of an internal fault. Some common sounds include clunking, kettling, whistling, banging and whirring- and they all indicate a fault.
